THE EIGHT LIMBS MEET THE TWELVE STEPS
Steps & Stillness bridges Patanjali's Eight Limbs of Yoga with the Twelve Steps of recovery. Yoga runs alongside step work as a parallel somatic language — not a replacement for the Steps, sponsorship, or fellowship.
Each session pairs asana, breathwork, and somatic check-ins with reflection scaled to the step being worked — ethical grounding, the body's felt sense of surrender, and a daily practice that carries beyond the mat.
THE SUBTLE BODY
The Twelve Steps are, among other things, a practice of restoring that system. Each step leans on its own energy center — Step One's descent into the root and the ground of powerlessness, Step Three's surrender through the solar plexus, Step Twelve's opening at the crown into service. Chakras, koshas, and nadis offer a map for this. The steps are already walking it.
Addiction does not only affect the body science can measure. Yoga calls the energetic layer beneath it the subtle body — sukshma sharira — the living field of vitality under the muscles, breath, and nervous system. The anxiety that will not quiet, the numbness that descends without warning, the restlessness stillness doesn't touch: these are signatures of a system thrown out of balance, not only symptoms to manage.
